GUIDE TO CHARM BAGS!
A charm bag is simply a magick spell inside a bag. They are spells in a bag and the most popular way of carrying power items with you. To make a charm bag, simply fill with one or more magickally charged items. Magickally charged items may include herbs, stones, charms, drops of essential or magick oils, amulets, and crystals.
Charm bags may be as simple as a square of fabric tied together or they may be beautifully embroidered hand made works of art. They may be made of silk, leather, metal,or any fabric. The choice is yours, but keep in mind that the container is part of the spell.

Step 2: Measure, cut, tie and secure!
When I cut my twine, I did a very rough estimate, stretching it out the length of one hand to the other, arms out wide. You will be braiding the string, so it will get shorter, but it shouldn’t get too much shorter. The length doesn’t have to be perfect.
You’re going to want 3 identical lengths of your string.
Once you’ve got them all measured and pretty, grab one end of all three and tie them together. I left a bit of twine at the top of mine, and then trimmed the middle string. I then tied the two remaining pieces together, giving me a nice loop to hang it up with.
Once that’s all prepared, you’re going to want to secure it somewhere. If you opted for the loop, and can hook it somewhere, you won’t need to use sticky-tape. I did, because of space, but I’m sure you guys can find somewhere easy enough.
Step 3: Begin the braid!
If you’ve done a braid before, this will be simple for you. However, if you have not, have a look at this little picture below, as well as this link to youtube. Braids can be complicated at first, but once you get the hang of it, it’s very easy.
When making a witches ladder, there is a poem/spoken spell that often accompanies it. There are two ways to do this. The first is to say each line as you put in one of your feathers or items, as there will be nine of them.
The second way is to say a line of the poem/spell each time you cross your braid over.
If you do the first, I would suggest counting the knots as you go, and trying to achieve 9 each time, to keep it even.
If you follow the second way, I suggest having the spell written out in front of you, or memories it ahead of time, as you’re going to be trying to focus on what you want to bring in as you braid, and trying to juggle braiding, focusing on your intent, and speaking a spell at the same time can be confusing/hard.
If you do end up with the second braid, you will find that your items will be fairly evenly spaced, especially if you’ve built up a tempo with the speed of your braiding and how you say the spell.
The Spell:
By knot of one, the spell’s begun. By knot of two, the magic comes true. By knot of three, so it shall be. By knot of four, this power is stored. By knot of five, my will shall drive. By knot of six, the spell I fix. By knot of seven, the future I leaven. By knot of eight, my will be fate. By knot of nine, what is done is mine.
Step 4: Weave the items in!
It can be somewhat fiddly to try and braid in the items, but all you really need to do is stick one part of the item between the cords as you braid, and it will stay.
You may need to move further back to keep the string taut, just work with what feels right.
As you go down the ladder, try and put the items in on either side of the twine. That will keep it looking even and not lopsided.
Step 5: Tie it off!
I chose to add a little wooden bead at the bottom, but this is not necessary. Once you have tied in all 9 items, you can tie it off at the bottom and hang it up. Your witches ladder will be complete!
I hope you enjoyed this little tutorial, and if you’d like it to come out similar/identical to mine above, there are extended ladder instructions in the read more below.
Until next time, be well,
- Tinne
Additional Note:
If you want to make it longer, or tie in more things, feel free. If you feel that working in solid numbers, like 10’s works better, do that. If you feel that you want to make it ceiling to floor, with a new thing tied in every 3 braids, do that!
Just remember that the more symbolism that is tied into the spell, the more vibration is has, and thus, the more power. Use colours, items and even smells that relate to your intent.

Fire, earth, air and water are fundamental energies that operate in the physical world. They are the building blocks of life. Rocks and soil, wind, the sun, lakes and streams. These are examples of the physical form in which we see the elements. Equally, if not more important are the vibrational qualities of these four elements.
Sights, sounds, smells, tastes, textures — pretty much everything — can be grouped into one of the elemental categories. When you begin to understand these connections you can learn to draw upon these elements to produce the results you desire. Part of your development as a witch involves using these elements to your advantage. You may use them singularly or combine two or more elements to create balance. Each element has its own properties, and it’s up to you to decide how to use them.

Thou root of Mandrake from Earth’s bed Shaped and fashioned by my own hand Become the likeness of the one Whose will I’ll bend to my command
The Mandrake or Mandragora has been used in various purposes in withcraft and it is known because of its roots resemble a human figure.
Use this spell when you wish to influence the mind of a certain person. Care must be taken when performing such task as you must do this with full resolve, without any doubts. You are to affect your will to someone else so there should be clarity in your thoughts.
Before you give anyone a gift, cleanse and charge the object you are gifting with positive energy and luck for the recipient. Two gifts in one!
Hi everyone! So, I’ve mentioned before that there are a million different ways to incorporate magic into your every day life. I think that making magic part of your everyday routine is important, but you can also add a magical boost to your bedroom! Here are some ideas for making your room magical. Enjoy!
The Bed:
Draw sigils on the bed frame (maybe underneath the bed so that it’s out of sight) for good sleep or to ward off nightmares (or to add a little extra spice for when you bring guys from the bar home…I don’t judge.)
Or you could stitch sigils into your pillow case or sheets instead.
When you lay down to go to sleep, create a big energetic shield around your bed to protect you while you sleep
The Windows:
Enchant your curtains/shutters/blinds to keep out prying eyes
Place tarot cards, crystals, and other tools on the window sill to let them charge with the power of the moon/sun.
Open up the windows every once in a while to release all of the excess and negative energy out of your room and into the air.
The Carpet:
Make cleansing “floor washes” for your carpet by making a powder with herbs and baking soda. Sprinkle it over the carpet and vacuum to remove. If you have wood floors in your room, you can make a liquid floor wash instead.
The Shelves, Side Tables, etc.
Create a small altar on top of a shelf, side table, or other surface in your room. It can be to honor the deities that you worship, or it can be for something else like drawing in prosperity or good fortune.
Dedicate shelves to different purposes by anointing them with different magical oils.
The Walls:
Magically program the walls with protective energy, like a giant shield around the entire room
Enchant posters or paintings of people/celebrities/etc to watch over the room or give the room a certain desired vibe.
Create a “vision board” with pictures of things that you would like to have in the future (vacation destinations, dream jobs/houses, etc). Every time you look at it, send some energy into it. Over time, the build up of energy will help draw those things to you.
The Closet:
Write down things that you would like to keep secret from the world or things that you would like people to not notice. Hide the pieces of paper in the closet to hide them from the world like “skeletons in the closet”.
Charge your favorite clothes to help bring confidence, motivation etc. to you when you wear them.
These are just some ideas that you can play around with to keep magic alive in your everyday life :) If you have any questions, feel free to send me an ask. Thanks for reading,
Livi
