That’s Me In The Corner! That’s Me In The cor

God, this. I worked in a highschool during my last semester at college, and taught while using a cane because I needed a mobility aid. I started counting students who would innapropriately ask about my disability. The most common phrase was just "what is wrong with you?" I'm not kidding when I say at least 20 highschoolers, many who are in my classes and I've never met before, asked me this question or something similarly worded. While it's a great oppurtunity for me to educate students on what NOT to say to someone with a disability, the fact of the matter is that its rude and condescending. Teach your kids about disabilities so that we dont have to for you.

Able bodied parents I'm begging you to teach your kids about disabled people. Not just because they could become disabled themselves one day but also because even if they don't, they have a very real chance of being rude to us if you don't teach them.

Yes, kids just say shit. They have no filter. That doesn't make it any less humiliating when your child sits near me on the bus and incessantly grills me on why I have a stick when I'm not old. Or laughs at us for things our disability causes. It doesn't take away the hurt when they bully a disabled classmate. For a large part these things could be avoided if you just taught your kids to respect us. It's really not that hard.

A yellow image with black text that reads 'ablebodied people can reblog but dont add anything'. To the left of the text is a black silhouette of a wheelchair user and to the right is a black silhouette of a person with a cane.

A Harsh Night at the Mercy of the Wind 📢🆘

Yesterday was a difficult day for my family and children… Fierce winds swept through our fragile tent—the only shelter we had, offering us a semblance of security. But it could not withstand the wrath of nature. I sat watching my children huddle together, their little eyes filled with fear, and my heart ached because all I could offer them was patience and prayers.

I don’t know when we will receive a new tent or perhaps caravans that can provide us with a minimum level of dignity. We are not asking for much—just a roof to shield our children from the cold and rain, walls that give us a little privacy, and a glimmer of hope.

To everyone reading these words, we are here… trying to endure, trying to stay strong. But we need someone to hear our voices, someone to extend a helping hand, someone who believes that every human being deserves a dignified life.

As Elon Musk cements his place in history as a fascist tech overlord and the rest of the world looks at us in horror, I really do want to reiterate what I feel will be lost to the history books

Nearly everyone in america has thought and continues to think that Elon is very cringe.

What does “The Spectrum” mean? Do some people have “more Autism” than others?

I covered these topics in a comic to help explain the extremely individual and incomparable nature of the autism spectrum!

Hiding government and public services to reduce how much they're used and "prove" that they're unneeded is a tried and true Republican technique. It's not a conspiracy, these things are deliberately made difficult to access to discourage people from using them because "more use = more funding" and "less use = less funding" is how public service funding is generally decided.

Musk outright lying about "deleting" a whole IRS program for low income tax filing is just a progression of common Republican tactics. Don't fall for it.
