2014 F3 Champion Esteban Ocon presents the 2016 Champion, Lance Stroll, with his trophy
HOCKENHEIM Race 3 F3 '16 - october 16, 2016

I made a video compilation of some of Esteban's overtakes this season. Even if the season was not how he or we (his fans) wanted it to turn out, he has definitely proven that his racecraft is one of the best on the grid.

esteban ocon reflecting on feeling illness during qatar gp 2023
yellow himbo boys 💛 {full version here}
I've seen bits and pieces of Nadal's movistar interview and it's very fascinating. He's always more open and expressive in Spanish but there's just something that's different. I knew he was a realist and has a very grounded/realistic outlook on his life, I just can't help feeling a bit sad on this one. Though he's literally stating nothing but facts, it hits too close to resigned acceptance this time and feels a bit like a retirement interview.
I've always seen him as the accept-the-problem-let's-move-on kinda guy, you can see this a lot in his tactic discussion during laver cup matches and it's what makes him a great player I suppose. He's a problem solver, he doesn't really worry about things outside his control, "He's hitting a good serve, that's fine nothing you can do about it, you have to wait it out," "the wind is not perfect today but that's tennis, nothing you can do you have to adapt" etc etc. He was never really one to dwell on the past, always with the it happened let's move on kinda attitude, which I think is crucial for top level atheletes to not get bogged down by your wins or losses.
But it seems like he talks a lot about regret in this one. He said there are times he prioritised his competitive urges more than his health and life, like in Roland Garros this year where he shouldn't have stayed that long. He talks about pain, about the tiredness of living with chronic pain, about not being able to walk down the stairs, about making life choices of what really matters and what doesn't.
He's very honest and raw, he said he didn't congratulate Djokovic yet on his 24th slam because it honestly hasn't crossed his mind and because he might also had to adjust to someone new having the most GS.
What's perhaps more painful is what seems like this feeling of resigned acceptance that the sport is moving on without him. He's being very realistic, fair and honest about it. He said he's very proud of Alcaraz and congratulated him for his achievements but then admitted he's not that in the field anymore. Tennis will always be a part of him, but he doesn't really have friends left in the sport, except for Federer, who he calls from time to time. It's fascinating that he referred to tennis in general instead of just the current next generation ATP players who he never really competed against (and hence wouldn't have known anyway) as Federer is clearly also no longer in the sport.
I have no idea what his life is like these days but it gives the impression that he's seemingly trying to make peace with no longer having any relations with professional tennis (apart from his secluded academy of course) and Roger's the only one he still occassionaly keeps in touch with. He talks about the future a lot, about the many things he could decide to become tomorrow if he wants to, about being president of Real Madrid, about his academy that he cares deeply for, about maybe one day getting into coaching.
If I'm to make something at all out of this, Rafa seems.. ready. He says an illusion is for him to come back and win another Australian Open or Roland Garros (still with that little twinkle of hope in his eyes 🥺), but what's not an illusion is him trying his very best one last time to go back on court, to enjoy the ride, play the sport that defined his life, compete in the stadiums he loves the most, to properly say his goodbye.
Here is Esteban's AMA for anyone who doesn't want to wade through the comments on Reddit.
pierresteban 48
pierre/esteban, 48 … out of habit
It’s Charles who books the room, naturally. Of course it is.
“The website said that it sleeps four,” Charles says, sheepish. He’s not quite meeting anyone’s eye.
“It does sleep four. In two beds,” Pierre says. He’s rarely ever visibly irritated with Charles but he is now, a scowl on his face that’s usually reserved for everyone else.
Esteban would almost entertain the possibility that Charles has done this on purpose. Devised a clever plot to end up with Carlos sharing his bed. It isn’t a plot, though—it’s just the type of thing that happens to Charles, while Charles himself looks on, blinking like a lost sheep at events outside of his control.
“It is not so bad, eh?" Carlos says, slinging an arm around Charles' shoulders. "I will keep you warm."
He waggles his eyebrows, jostling Charles with that same arm and earning himself a laugh that's one part nervous and one part delighted. He seems to have a very strong urge to shove whenever he's around Charles.
Esteban is deeply hoping that Pierre might be the one to say something. Suggest the obvious: that Pierre and Charles share a bed, and Esteban and Carlos share the other. Esteban and Charles, even. Carlos on the floor. Carlos on the roof. Any combination which avoids Pierre and Esteban in the same bed.
Instead, Pierre and Charles are engaged in some kind of silent conversation which can only end one way.
"Whatever," Pierre says, and the final spark of Esteban's hope dies. It's far too late to try and search for another place now; they almost missed late check-in as it is.
The rooms themselves are nice enough, if a little dated. There's a couch, but it isn't a pull-out, and there's absolutely no chance of Esteban sleeping on it and waking up the next morning with the ability to move his back. There is, however, a set of spare linens and a duvet in the closet. Esteban is in the middle of debating whether he'd be able to make a comfortable-enough nest on the floor when Pierre appears in the doorway like a dark cloud.
"I'm not taking the fucking floor," he says. Esteban fights the urge to hurl one of the pillows directly at his head.
"Okay? Neither am I," Esteban says, as if he hadn't been contemplating the idea of it about three seconds ago.
Pierre shoves past him, dragging his suitcase instead of using the wheels like a normal person.
Esteban collects his pyjamas and heads to the bathroom for a quick shower, because it seems like a better option than staying and watching Pierre rifle through his suitcase like every single item inside of it has personally done him wrong. By the time he gets out Pierre is already in bed, about as far over to the right as he can possibly be without falling out. His back is to Esteban and he's scrolling through his phone. He doesn't react to Esteban entering the room at all.
Esteban finds himself wishing it were hot enough to use the air conditioner, just so that they'd have the benefit of white noise. As it is, the only things he can hear are Charles and Carlos giggling softly through the wall and Pierre breathing steadily.
Pierre ignoring him is technically not a sound, but Esteban kind of thinks it should count.
"Can I turn off the lamp?" Esteban asks, once he's settled in under the sheets.
"I don't care," Pierre says, because everything in the entire fucking world has to be difficult.
Esteban is pretty convinced the discomfort is going to have him up half the night but it doesn't, in the end. He must fall asleep within minutes. He wakes up on his back, a slice of sunlight pouring in through the crack of the curtains and hitting him directly in the face. There's a little weight on his chest, and it takes Esteban a few seconds to recognise that it's Pierre's hand, his palm facing upwards and his fingers curled inwards. It's Pierre beside him, also, on his side and fast asleep.
It should feel strange. But the only thing Esteban can think about is how familiar it feels, instead. He always did used to wake up first, Pierre taking far longer to respond to the alarm.
Pierre must have migrated over the course of the night. He's now more or less in the centre of the bed, his head almost entirely off his pillow, and he looks the way he always does in sleep.
It's far too early in the morning for Esteban to be embarrassed by wanting, so he lets himself look.
Pierre makes a sleepy little whuff noise, so close that Esteban can feel it on his cheek, and then he's awake.
"Hm?" he says. Grunts, really. He scrubs a hand over his face, blinking at Esteban. "Oh. Hey," he says, and then Pierre is leaning in to kiss him.
It's too fast—or maybe Esteban is just too slow to react, but he lets it happen either way. It's a soft press, closed mouths. A good morning kiss.
Pierre pulls away. His eyes clear about a half second after that.
"Fuck," he says. Horror dawns. "Shit."
He turns so fast it yanks the duvet directly off Esteban, gathering around Pierre's hips as he sits up at the edge of the bed. His back is incredibly stiff, arms pulled into his body defensively.
There's a part of Esteban that's still half-asleep, kind of convinced he's still in a dream, and there's another part of Esteban that feels remarkably like he's been electrocuted.
"Uh," Esteban says.
He isn't sure what's going to come out next—a joke, an assurance that it's fine—but it turns out not to matter. Pierre doesn't wait for it. He gets up without another word, stalking into the bathroom and slamming the door shut behind him.
Sophia Floersch (f3 driver, first woman to score points in f3) posted a picture of her abs and someone in the comments tried the "would a male driver flaunt their body like this 🙄" and got ABSOLUTELY cooked...... from the bottASS to george russell not owning a shirt exhibit 942 to keke rosberg tits out to outright dropping the Ferrari onlyfans link 😭😭😭

ache it till you make it by anonymous | T | 3.2k Pierre joins Alpine. Beautiful relationship study.
'Esteban looked over at Pierre—laughing, pink-nosed, indistinguishable from another Pierre in his memory—and for a burning second he couldn’t remember why they never talked anymore.'
nsfw: tip of the tongue by @leclercenjoyer | E | 3.3k Esteban has an oral fixation, and Pierre is sensitive. Incredibly tender. Everything this author writes is fantastic.
'They’d been awkward the first few times, both playing their cards close to their chest, too afraid to give too much away, but now that they’ve settled into their casual arrangement Esteban makes no secret of how much he wants Pierre like this, at his mercy, in his bed.'
People You Know by @estemick | M | 6.5k Pierre's flight home from Switzerland is cancelled. He stays with Esteban. I haven't stopped thinking about this one since I first read it. Beautiful.
'Pierre considers how things might have been different. If he and Esteban had never fallen out. Maybe if they had never done karting together at all. Maybe he actually could have been a successful footballer. He and Esteban had been so close for so long. They were the centre of each other’s universe. Then everything had gone completely wrong.'
telephone by @grandprix-ao3 | M | 7.2k Unhealthy relationships. Small towns. Gorgeous, as everything GP writes is.
'Esteban can’t help the way Pierre’s name sits in his mouth, now: like pulling teeth. There’s a hole where it used to sit, one he can’t help but slot his tongue into, taste the blood off the enamel.'
strawberry wine by @eiffelover | M | 7.8k A/B/O AU. Alpine assume that Esteban will support Pierre through his heats. A gorgeous imagining of their relationship through an a/b/o lens.
'There was a chasm between them, and being on the same team didn’t suddenly create a bridge.'
elle me dit by @unabashedlycasualangel | T | 8.8k (ongoing) 5 times Esteban gives Pierre flowers, and 1 time he gets them in return. Stunningly written.
'He had never met an opportunity that hadn’t asked him to walk through fire first. He would prove himself here and make them care.'
nsfw: At the Shrine of Your Light by @seafoampearlygirl | E | 13.2k Pierre and Esteban attend Catholic school together. Haunting and clever and beautifully written. This fic is anonymous, but the author has given me permission to tag them here.
Pierre dug under his white school shirt, shoving his striped tie to the side and fumbling between the buttons for the small gold crucifix he always wore. He gripped it hard, the corners digging into the flesh of his palm. He knew they would leave marks, like stigmata.
Snowstorms and Olive Branches by @gaslybottoms | T | 20.1k Pierre and Esteban get caught in a snowstorm. So beautifully written. Manifested the snowball fight way ahead of time.
“Este?” Pierre asked, the nickname sounding almost foreign on his tongue after nearly ten years of him not saying it, aside from the slip up the day before. Esteban had looked up, his eyes wide and posture nervous, and Pierre could have kicked himself.
nsfw: hold me like a grudge by @ferawrri | E | 24.2k Esteban and Pierre switch bodies. Very sweet and fun, and well written.
'Esteban inspects Pierre's (temporarily his) face, letting his eyes fall on the contours of his cheekbones and slope of his nose unabashedly, for the first time in years. He’d changed a bit, obviously, grown into his features and matured since they were fifteen and since Esteban felt a conflicting mixture of emotions looking at him. Still painful, albeit a lot less. Still handsome. He could live carrying Pierre's face. Maybe.'
to celebrate recent developments (pierre moving to alpine and este posting tht cringe tiktok) ive put a lil something for the pierresteban nation. ever since ive deep dived into this ship i have scoured through the pierresteban ao3 tags and these are the ff i reread like daily.
1. those days are gone forever by destruction_of_the_galaxy | M, 1,3k
“In a different life, in an alternate timeline, it would come that easily. In fact, they never would’ve been here in the first place. But if they had, Este would’ve apologized, bought Pierre all the pastries and sweets he could handle, and given him a kiss. And that would’ve been that. A simple fix, no pride or jealousy in the way. And yet.”
part ½ second part is from pierre’s pov. my fave pierresteban ff so far. the delicious pinning… chef kiss….

“It’s 2027. Esteban and Pierre are teammates. It goes—okay.”

3. did its people want too much too? by steponthegaslys | G, 1,9k
“In which Force India and Toro Rosso decide to cheap out on plane tickets to Singapore, leading to two childhood friends turned enemies being stuck side by side on a 13 hour flight.” how can you walk around the world knowing that someone out there know the smallest details about you yet you dont even talk to them anymore. makes me want to punch the wall
4. I Almost Do by Wellthisdidntgotoplan | G, 1k
