I am relatively new to tumblr and am looking for friends and community. I am a Black, Indigenous, Queer, Disabled person. Would you be willing to share a few blog recs?

I'm sorry I can't think of any specific blogs off the top of my head, but I did recently stumble upon @disabledclassifieds. It's a blog that disabled people can use to post and reply to personal ads from other disabled people, and I feel like it may be a slightly better source of information than I am 😅 [grinning face with water drop emoji]

And (I don't know how new you are so I apologise if this comes across as patronising, it is not supposed to be), I personally found it a bit easier to integrate into a community in the disability punk tags. Cripplepunk, madpunk, audpunk etc. etc. Little corners of tumblr for various communities.

And (because I know sometimes it's easier if someone else makes the first move) I will encourage anyone who sees this, if they want to, to reach out to you! (If you would like that, of course)

You can say "I am struggling to do [x thing] because of my disability" and neurotypicals + able-bodied people will come up with any reason ever why it isn't actually your disability causing you to struggle and is actually a personal moral failing.

Ok y’all, I need you to drop links for free binder services. It’s November which means that parents won’t think it’s odd for their children to request that they not inspect packages. Haben: Braille displays connect to phones and laptops, allowing Braille readers to access the internet this way. Descriptive transcripts should have both the visuals of what's happening on screen and speech and key sounds for the video. Really good descriptive transcripts captivate readers just like the best novels.

Haben: Once we have widespread accessibility, it'll be easier for deafblind people to share our stories and also participate in conversations. I love learning from lives different from mine and in order for me to do that, I need transcripts. I look forward to reading all your transcripts!
