This is my attempt at trying to chronicle the brief yet significant relationship of Taylor Swift and Emily Poe. I’ve tried to get this as accurate as possible, based on what I could research off the internet. If I find more information or corrections, I’ll update this accordingly.
Emily Poe (now Stumler) was primarily Taylor’s fiddle player during the Taylor Swift and Pre-Fearless era. Her linkedIn profile states that she was working with Taylor from July 2006 until January 2008. She lists that her duties included: “[having] Aided in image management, artist relations, and marketing strategy for artist. Performed for all live shows as the fiddle player and background vocalist. Assisted in merchandise sales at venues.”
Prior to the release of Taylor’s debut album, Emily was already hired as part of the band. Majority of their time together was spent on the road as Taylor became the opening acts of multiple country artists. Thus, this timeline will be heavy with journal mentions, pictures, and videos from their stops on tour, life on the bus, etc. which are labeled accordingly.
——2006——
**I find Taylor’s MySpace Bios from around that time very interesting. :)
2006-early 2008 = “I’ve never been the kind of girl who needs a boyfriend. I don’t go out looking for guys. But then again, I don’t write alot of love songs. Basically.. I’m single.” (x)
2008 = “I’ve never been the kind of girl who needs a boyfriend. I believe that love will find you when you’re not looking for it.. So I’ve been actively NOT looking for it for about 3 years now. I’ll let you know how that works out for me. It probably doesn’t help that I write songs about every guy I talk to.” (x)

the letter, reads: “Emily– I feel as if our relationship has been taken to the next level over the past few months and with much contemplation I decided I would bestow upon you one of my most prized possession: my flamingo bandana. This is a 3rd generation family heirloom and i suggest you frame it. I think it will look perfect in your apartment with the cat pillows. Enjoy”

November - ‘Fearless’ release date -> “Breathe” ft. Colbie Caillat
in addition to the fact that it was written around the time she lasts mentions Emily by name on her blog (or at all), Taylor’s explanation about writing ‘Breathe’ points it very much towards Emily. (part 1) (part 2)
Taylor: “It was total therapy because I came in and I was like look you know one of my best friends, I’m going to not have to see anymore and is not going to be part of what I do and it’s like the hardest thing to go through. It’s crazy listening to the song because you’d think it’d be about a relationship, but it’s really about losing a friend and having a fallout, just the loss.”
Colbie: “It can relate to anyone, anything.”
Taylor: “It does, it’s never specific as to why, that’s my favorite thing about it, it doesn’t talk about why or who’s fault it was because sometimes the hardest time of when you say goodbye it’s nobodies fault. It just has to stop.”
The lyrics tell the story so well, honestly. (x) especially the repeated and haunting ‘i’m sorry’
Did I mention the song’s secret message on the album was ‘i’m sorry i’m sorry i’m sorry’ as well? (x)

2011 - 3 years later…
VH1 posts a pop-up video for ‘Our Song’ and basically challenges the reason on Emily’s departure. It explains that she was allegedly fired without being given a reason and that “Taylor never talked to her again”. Thus further fueling the idea that “Breathe” was really about Emily and that it was more than just a ‘friendship falling out’.
In January/February 2012, Emily & her husband’s wedding/love story was featured in an article. She cites a bit of her time with Taylor and says that it led her to pursue law school thus leaving music (and Taylor) for good. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
“…I started with watching her on the road,” she explained. “She had just started and I lived with her on the bus with her mom, and I was watching you know, deals come through. She got this deal with Verizon and instead of - you know, I loved music - but I would sit there and read the contracts. I thought, I think I really want to do this. So when I came off the road I pretty much went straight to law school. I loved contracts. “The last week I was working for her ‘Our Song’ was Number 1,” she continued. “So I watched a growth of the artist. There’s tons of business involved, that’s what people don’t realize. It’s more than just the music.”
For me personally, and for many Swifties, I’m sure, All Too Well has a special place in our hearts. There’s something so raw and emotional about that song. Taylor’s music has always been personal, but this one feels extra special somehow…
My personal belief is that it’s about Emily Poe, so this analysis is built around a Taymily narrative. Because of this I’m gonna link to @karlieskupkake’s Taymily master post again, since it was a significant help in getting the timeline straight (or not 🌈🌈) when writing this.
As always the credit for the lyrics used here goes to AZLyrics and I ask you all to remember that I’m not claiming anything presented in this analysis is fact, it’s all just speculation.
Now let’s deep-dive into this heart-wrenching masterpiece of a song!
–
I walked through the door with you, the air was cold,
But something ‘bout it felt like home somehow.
–
So our story starts around late October/early November 2006 when Taylor and the gang from the early days (this obviously includes Emily) were on tour with Rascal Flatts (x) In the opening lines Taylor describes walking through a door with someone, a door into a venue where they were going to be playing that night perhaps? The air was cold, indicating autumn (the rest of the song has an autumn theme to it too) so October/November and the Rascal Flatts tour still fits.
Then Taylor talks about how even though they were walking in somewhere unfamiliar to her and the air around them was cold and probably unpleasant as really chilly autumn air can be, she still felt at home because she was with this special someone, the previously mentioned (and gender-neutral) “You.” If we assume that “You” is Emily, could Taylor be indicating that even though they were on the road and all this touring and preforming was a new world to her she still felt at home because she was not only living her dream, but she also had her girlfriend at her side.
–
And I left my scarf there at your sister’s house,
And you’ve still got it in your drawer even now.
–
In the next few lines it seems that Taylor specified exactly where she walked through the door to in those previous lines, it would seem she’s perhaps not on the road touring, but at her lover’s sister’s house. It’s the first time she’s there and yet she ends up feeling so at home that she left her scarf there and her lover kept it and has held onto it ever since.
Well, may I suggest that the line about the sister was thrown in as a #NoHomo? Many of the het fans seem to think this song is about Jake Gyllenhaal and well Mr. Gyllenhaal happens to have a sister named Maggie, so perhaps that line was an attempt to encourage the het interpretation that the song is about him? Admittedly I have no idea if Emily has a sister too, perhaps, but regardless I would argue that the “sister”-part of this isn’t the important one, the “scarf” part is. In Taylor’s video for Emily (x) a letter (from Taylor to Emily) is shown, part of the letter says the following:
“I decided I would bestow upon you one of my most prized possession: my flamingo bandana.”
What’s a bandana, again? Oh that’s right a type of scarf. Taylor gave Emily her bandana or “scarf” and it wouldn’t be a stretch to assume she has it even now, maybe in a drawer…?
As far as I know it’s not known when exactly the letter mentioning the bandana was written, but in another part of the letter it does say:
“I feel as if our relationship has been taken to the next level over the past few months”
well, during the Rascal Flatts tour in October/November Emily had worked for Taylor for a few months (since July) so perhaps Taylor wrote Emily the letter and gave her the bandana when they first started dating while on the road with Rascal Flatts?
–
Oh, your sweet disposition and my wide-eyed gaze.
We’re singing in the car, getting lost Upstate.
Autumn leaves falling down like pieces into place,
And I can picture it after all these days.
–
Here Taylor’s referring to being new (or wide-eyed) to something, perhaps the music industry itself, on October 24th 2006 Taylor’s debut album was released, so in November she was still pretty new to it all, wouldn’t you say? She also refers to perhaps what made her fall for Emily, her kind nature (or “sweet disposition”) she was there for Taylor in the beginning when it was all new, through that whole wide-eyed experience Taylor had Emily at her side, they were both innocent newbies back then.
Here’s what makes me think we’re specifically talking about the Rascal Flatts tour, Taylor claims they (her and Emily, and perhaps anyone else in the car) were singing and getting lost upstate. Well, the final date for the tour was November 3rd and they were playing in Albany, New York, aka UPSTATE. (I’m sure they played other places upstate too though) Singing in a car and getting lost sounds like early touring fun to me.
Then Taylor mentions autumn leafs falling like pieces into place, this sounds like Taylor figuring out her feelings for Emily were more than friendship and when they entered a relationship (or “took their relationship to the next level”) after those first few months of being friends it all started making sense, or falling into place; just like the leafs tend to do during the autumn months when the tour was happening and the girls first started dating.
I don’t know exactly when All Too Well was written, but I have heard that it was the first song Taylor wrote for Red and that it took a long time to finish. Regardless of when it was written though it must’ve been a long time after her and Emily broke up, but even though the years had passed Taylor could still see those early days of their relationship so clearly. She could picture the start of it even many years (or “days”) after it ended.
Fun fact: Liz Rose was a co-writer on All Too Well despite not having written with Taylor for years at that point. Rose is however known to have had a hand in many songs on both Taylor Swift and Fearless, so in other words she was significant during the “Emily-era” of Taylor’s romantic life, but has stated that she was surprised when Taylor suddenly called her again after so many years asking for help with All Too Well. I don’t know about you, but I feel the seemingly random return of a co-writer who hadn’t worked with Taylor since the Emily-days is significant… (x)
–
And I know it’s long gone,
And that magic’s not here no more,
And I might be okay,
But I’m not fine at all.
–
Taylor knows that the relationship was years ago and that it and whatever connection she and her lover had (“magic”) is no more and she’s okay with that, for the most part…Okay, so sometimes she’s not, at all…These lines make it seem like Emily was the one who got away, we all have trouble getting over our first love or first real significant relationship. Given that Taylor was 16 at the start of her relationship with Emily and presumably was with her for years their relationship seems to fit that bill pretty well.
–
‘Cause there we are again on that little town street.
You almost ran the red 'cause you were looking over at me.
Wind in my hair, I was there, I remember it all too well.
–
It seems that the biggest reason Taylor has such trouble getting over the subject of this song is because random significant moments from their relationship keep coming back to her in a crystal clear way, as if it happened yesterday when it was in fact years ago. She remembers all the little moments spent in cars and on buses during early touring (remember, Emily lived with Taylor and Andrea on the tour bus at one point) all too well, all too clearly and she can’t seem to let them go…They were a significant part of her life, not just romantically, but professionally, this was the start of her career and Emily was there for all of it, of course such a central person in her life on so many levels would be hard to let go of.
–
Photo album on the counter, your cheeks were turning red.
You used to be a little kid with glasses in a twin sized bed
And your mother’s telling stories about you on a tee ball team
You taught me 'bout your past, thinking your future was me.
–
They spent so much time together during those days that they even introduced each other to their families (it seems Emily was even with the Swifts on vacation in 2007.) Taylor got to know Emily’s parents, who told embarrassing childhood stories about her, making her blush in that stereotypical way parents are supposed to when you bring home a partner for the first time. I think what Taylor is saying here is that Taymily was like most young love stories, even in the sense that they thought they were going to be together forever (“You taught me 'bout your past, thinking your future was me.”)
–
And I know it’s long gone
And there was nothing else I could do
And I forget about you long enough
To forget why I needed to…
–
In my Love Story analysis I talk about how I think Taylor’s label/management may have had a hand in separating Taylor and Emily after Emily’s mysterious and sudden firing. In these lines I think Taylor’s apologizing. She’s saying:
“Hey Emily, I know this was all a long time ago, but I want you to know that there was nothing I could do about the firing/decisions from the label/management. They encouraged me to forget about you and I did, long enough to forget how intense my feelings were for you in the first place.”
You see to me it seems like something awakened Taylor’s dormant, intense emotions that Andrea has mentioned came out during the writing of this song. (x)
To me it makes perfect sense, this was perhaps her very last Taymily song and something made all the feelings come back to her and spurred her to write it after so many years, maybe a recent meeting/interaction with Emily where she had a chance to talk about the past and apologize for her part in their abrupt ending? More on this later though…
–
'Cause there we are again in the middle of the night.
We’re dancing around the kitchen in the refrigerator light
Down the stairs, I was there, I remember it all too well, yeah.
–
Another flashback to a sweet moment making it hard for Taylor to let go of the relationship. Interestingly she references stairs here, a romantic motif used in several Taylor songs (Sparks Fly for example, which I coincidentally also believe may be about Emily.)
–
Well, maybe we got lost in translation, maybe I asked for too much,
But maybe this thing was a masterpiece 'til you tore it all up.
Running scared, I was there, I remember it all too well.
–
I don’t think the “You” in the “you tore it all up”-line necessarily refers to Emily, I think it might be referring to Taylor’s management/label. Similarly I think that the “lost-in-translation”-line might be referring to how much of the end of this relationship were handled by them rather than by Taylor and Emily themselves.
The label/management decided to fire Emily and then Taylor was most likely “strongly encouraged” to break off the relationship, Taylor and Emily had no control over how their relationship ended and maybe Taylor’s apology got “lost in translation” in the sense that she didn’t get to personally tell Emily that she was sorry for the way it was all handled and that breaking up wasn’t her choice? Obviously I don’t know the specifics of how the firing/breakup went down, but it seems likely that the decision was out of Taylor’s hands (see: “there was nothing else I could do”)
“Maybe I asked for too much” could be referring to how Taylor realized that trying to be in a gay relationship and maintain the image her management/label wanted for her in the early days was “asking for too much” basically she could have either Emily or the fame, but not both, at least not according to the people in charge. This is where the masterpiece-line comes in, Taylor’s saying that her relationship was beautiful and working out, before the higher-ups decided to get involved and deemed Emily “inappropriate” for Taylor’s image.
So what about “running scared”? Well, imagine this for yourself, you’re an up-and-coming young artist in a conservative genre (such as country) and you happen to be gay, your management tells you that being with your girlfriend will have a negative impact on your public image and thus your popularity and success in the business you’ve wanted to make it in your entire life. Your career is finally starting to take off and now the people who know the business are suddenly telling you it might all get taken away if you don’t end your current relationship. Wouldn’t you get scared? Well, Taylor did and although she might regret letting “the adults” handle her personal affairs to the degree that they did back then, she also remembers getting scared for the future of her budding career. In fact she remembers that feeling too well to blame herself. However, she does feel bad she let this significant relationship end in that way.
–
Hey, you call me up again just to break me like a promise.
So casually cruel in the name of being honest.
I’m a crumpled up piece of paper lying here
'Cause I remember it all, all, all… too well.
–
These may in fact be some of my favorite Taylor Swift lyrics of all time, but what do they mean?
Earlier I suggested that something must’ve prompted Taylor to write this song after all these years. Well, what if that something was a phone call from Emily wanting to inform Taylor that she was recently engaged? Andrea said the episode where Taylor came on stage having clearly cried and started scream-singing what would eventually become All Too Well happened in late 2010, well Emily officially got engaged in February 2011. (x) Maybe her and her husband had been discussing getting engaged and so Emily knew it was coming and decided she better call and “warn” Taylor in order to spare her feelings and make sure she wouldn’t find out from someone else that her first love was getting married.
Like I said, Emily thought she was sparing Taylor’s feelings by doing this, but in fact it just hurt and so she was being cruel without realizing just by telling Taylor something true, aka “casually cruel in the name of being honest.”
This phone call caused all the intense feelings that had been dormant for years to wake up in Taylor and as that intensity came back to her when they hung up she started crying and became as broken and crushed and hopeless as a crumbled up piece of paper. Due to the sudden firing and lack of association with each other since then Taylor didn’t really get closure for the relationship and maybe part of her had always hoped her lost love would come back someday, but here she was now telling Taylor she was moving on. Remember earlier Taylor referred to the relationship as a torn up masterpiece? Well, the typical image of artistry is that when an artist scraps their work, they crumple the piece of paper they’re working on and throws it away. Well the artistic work that was Taylor and Emily’s relationship has now officially been scrapped and there’s no chance at a romantic reunion for them despite any promises they might’ve made to each other that they were going to try again someday.
Taylor’s heart was broken by this phone call just like the empty promise made to her in her youth. (Wow, that’s depressing 💔💔)

Time won’t fly, it’s like I’m paralyzed by it
I’d like to be my old self again, but I’m still trying to find it
–
They say time’s supposed to heal all wounds and given enough time you should be able to get over anyone or anything. Time will pass and then suddenly without you knowing how it happened you’re just supposed to realize you haven’t thought of your long-lost love in ages and you feel fine without them. Well for Taylor time barely passes and she feels trapped in this loop where she still remembers details of her relationship with Emily far too well to ignore them or move on regardless of how much time has passed. While her ex is moving on Taylor is standing there, in the same spot, paralyzed and unable to let go.
She might be saying that she’d like to be the person she was before things with Emily ended, the person who was carefree and hopeful when it came to love, who believed in love, but somehow she can’t seem to find her and therefore she’ll never again become the less jaded version of herself that she used to be.
–
After plaid shirt days and nights when you made me your own
Now you mail back my things and I walk home alone
–
Wait, wait, wait, hold the fuck up! “plaid shirt days and nights when you made me your own” is the most obvious reference to lesbian love and/or sex that I have ever freaking heard, yeah I don’t think this line needs explaining…
As for the next line, maybe mailing back Taylor’s things (left at Emily’s) was something Emily did when their relationship had just ended as to avoid being in direct contact since Team Taylor didn’t want them to associate.
–
But you keep my old scarf from that very first week
'Cause it reminds you of innocence and it smells like me
You can’t get rid of it 'cause you remember it all too well, yeah
–
Either way it seems Emily didn’t mail back ALL of Taylor’s things, she kept the bandana/scarf that Taylor gave to her along with the letter the very first week they dated. It reminds Emily of Taylor and of innocent, first love and she can’t get herself to get rid of it since she also had a hard time moving past this relationship.
–
'Cause there we are again, when I loved you so
Back before you lost the one real thing you’ve ever known
It was rare, I was there, I remember it all too well
–
They both get flashbacks to the relationship’s happier days when their love was true. I tend to assume Emily is bi since she was with Taylor and now she’s married to a man, but this line seems to imply that she’s actually a lesbian dealing with compensatory heterosexuality. (It’s interesting that Emily mentions in the article I linked above that one of her reasons for leaving both Taylor and music behind and instead pursuing law school was that she “knew she wanted a husband and children” many people who work in the music industry do have families, but a stereotype about gay people is that we do not.) So maybe Emily convinced herself that her attraction to Taylor was a fluke and she’s straight, thus Taylor pointing out that their relationship was “the one real thing” Emily has ever known makes sense, because it was the only same-sex relationship she had the courage to be in and when it ended she went back to her compensatory straightness. (This theory was first brought to my attention here)
Or you know, maybe Taylor’s just saying that she (regardless of gender, because again, bisexuality exists) is Emily’s true love thus making the relationship the only “real” one Emily with ever have, because it was with her true love.
She then states that what they had was rare (once in a lifetime kinda love?) and that she knows and remembers that because she was there and she remembers the intensity of their feelings for each other.
–
Wind in my hair, you were there, you remember it all
Down the stairs, you were there, you remember it all
It was rare, I was there, I remember it all too well
–
Finally it’s stated that they both know that what they have was special and that the moments they had together will always matter, they will always remember them.
–
Wow, that is one beautifully heartbreaking, but very long song! It took much longer than I anticipated analyzing this so my The Moment I Knew analysis will be up tomorrow instead of later today, pushing the Hey Stephen analysis you’ve all been waiting for forward to Tuesday, I hope that’s okay. I also hope you enjoyed reading this and that I didn’t emotionally break you! (I kinda emotionally broke myself but that’s fineeeeeeeee 🙃 🙃 )
I’ve been thinking about Spade’s final messages recently, building upon some thoughts that came to me earlier this year.
Ultimately, I think Spade’s last few riddles were trying to tell us that Taylor won’t make major moves (maybe toward coming out) until after she releases all of her re-recorded albums.
As a refresher, these are the last riddles Spade sent:
I think the 🖤 represents the reputation re-record. It fits with the style of the album and was included before the rest of the text in both the 5/31/20 and 6/21/20 riddles. (It may be nothing but note that 5+3+1+2=11 and 6+2+1+2=11. Taylor can re-record rep in November 2022). The riddles are telling us “THEY ARE FREE” only after the rep re-record.
Until very recently, I always viewed the next riddle (“Love does not grow…) in isolation (maybe related to BLM protests that were widespread at the time or solely an Easter egg for Coney Island lyrics). But now I think this riddle is actually clarifying the “THEY ARE FREE” riddles. Closed fists also throw punches. Taylor is fighting back with her re-records and she can’t “bloom” until that’s done. Spade wanted us to know.
The timing of the “THEY ARE FREE” and “Love does not grow…” riddles also aligns with the “Why worry, she blooms in June.” riddle sent on 6/25/2019 —they were both sent almost exactly a year later at the end of Pride Month.
I’m assuming the girls had determined a rough outline of T+K’s plans by the time Spade’s final riddles were sent. Spade knew the road would be long and Kaylors would get upset/angry along the way. Plus, Spade must have known there would be a baby in the mix that would be too sensitive to discuss but hard to ignore. So, they chose to say goodbye. There have likely been pivots behind the scenes but if I’m right then Spade wasn’t simply misleading us at the end (even if it still feels that way). We assumed ‘they were free’ when the riddles were sent but Spade was letting us know it would be a long road.
i’m sure someone can provide a better quality screenshot, but i’m pretty sure she’s holding a spade card at 6:51 👀
In the tiktok were she wrote the lyrics in a notebook, she is writting it in the LAST PAGE of the book, to me it means she just finished something, maybe a book....
I’d love that!!
She also has a reputation ring on as she’s writing on the last page.
The amount of vitriol Jake is being subjected to because of all the drama surrounding ATW MV makes me think perhaps it was real? Why make such a big deal about the music video? Getting Sadie and Dylan to star, making a whole premiere and inviting fans… it’s like she’s saying “everyone please hate Jake G”. Why would she do that if he was a beard? Get a supposedly innocent man dragged on social media for some publicity for her album?
Please know that I firmly believe that Kaylor is real and Taylor has had relationships with women prior to Karlie, but we shouldn’t dismiss the fact that she might’ve dated men too. Even if she currently identifies as a lesbian, maybe she didn’t know that about herself back then. So this is not me trolling, just wondering why she would paint a giant X on Jake’s back over a PR relationship. All this bs would make more sense if they really dated and he was as bad as he’s portrayed in the MV and she wants to drag him for that…
Anon, she wrote the song before they ‘broke up’. Scroll my blog. There was a post about this yesterday. They were a three month publicity stunt. Please give her more credit than believing she would write such a deep song about a three month relationship. And, the timeline doesn’t add up. And his sister has no idea what the scarf 🧣 is even about.
So first, Taylor's current age is 31.
In All Too Well (The Short Film), Taylor highlights being 21 years old. Then, later in the film, we cut to 13 years later.
21 + 13 = 34 years old
ATW10 book release Taylor was 34 years old
Taylor also mentions in this interview that she actively sought to incentivize fans to read her lyrics with her coded messages. And that her lyrics, her words, are what she is most proud of in her career.
We've been seeing certain hints toward Speak Now as of late.
I must also remind you of this very important line from the Speak Now prologue. (I had this in a draft on November 1st and should've posted it then!)
Furthermore, I saw it suggested somewhere that the very title cards throughout the short film were chapter titles to ATW10 Taylor's book.
Long story short, I unabashedly in full clownery predict Taylor is planning on releasing a tell-all memoir like the ATW10 version of herself did. Furthermore, with the various Speak Now easter eggs we've seen lately, I also predict that Speak Now will be coming soon and that this "book millions might read someday" will be in our hands in about 3 years time
I believe this is something she's been planning for a while. And I can't wait to hear what she's been waiting to say!
okay but what about that huge safety pin hanging on the wall in the scene where Sadie is laying in bed 🤔
i’m sure someone can provide a better quality screenshot, but i’m pretty sure she’s holding a spade card at 6:51 👀
State of Grace (Taylor’s Version)
And I’ve loved in shades of wrong, we learn to live with the pain, mosaic broken hearts. But this love is brave and wild
this is a state of grace, this is the worthwhile fight. love is a ruthless game unless you play it good and right
these are the hands of fate, you’re my Achilles heel this is the golden age of something good and right and real
Red (Taylor’s Version)
faster than the wind, passionate as sin, ending so suddenly
loving him is like trying to change your mind once you’re already flying through the free fall
touching him was like realizing all you ever wanted was right there in front of you
regretting him was like wishing you never found out that love could be that strong
Treacherous (Taylor’s Version)
THE ENTIRETY OF THIS SONG
put your lips close to mine as long as they don’t touch out of focus, eye to eye ‘til the gravity’s too much and I’ll do anything you say if you say it with your hands and I’d be smart to walk away but you’re quicksand
this slope is treacherous this path is reckless this slope is treacherous and I-I-I like it
I can’t decide if it’s a choice getting swept away. I hear the sound of my own voice asking you to stay. all we are is skin and bone trained to get along, forever going with the flow but you’re friction
and I will get you, get you alone
that nothing safe is worth the drive and I would follow you, follow you home I’ll follow you
I Knew You Were Trouble (Taylor’s Version)
and the saddest fear comes creeping in, that you never loved me, or her, or anyone, or anything
All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)
SEE 10 MIN VERSION
I Almost Do (Taylor’s Version)
oh, we made quite a mess, babe. it’s probably better off this way and I confess, baby in my dreams, you’re touching my face. and asking me if I wanna try again with you and I almost do
Holy Ground (Taylor’s Version)
took off faster than a green light, go yeah you skip the conversation when you already know. I left a note on the door with a joke we’d made and that was the first day
iykyk
Sad Beautiful Tragic (Taylor’s Version)
we had a beautiful magic love there what a sad, beautiful, tragic love affair
in dreams, I meet you in warm conversation and we both wake in lonely beds, different cities and time is taking its sweet time erasing you and you’ve got your demons and darling, they all look like me
The Lucky One (Taylor’s Version)
now, it’s big black cars and Riviera views and your lover in the foyer doesn’t even know you
and your secrets end up splashed on the news front page
and they tell you that you’re lucky, but you’re so confused
Everything Has Changed (Featuring Ed Sheeran) (Taylor’s Version)
and all my walls stood tall, painted blue, and I’ll take 'em down, take 'em down and open up the door for you
come back and tell me why I’m feeling like I’ve missed you all this time, and meet me there tonight and let me know that it’s not all in my mind
Come Back…Be Here (Taylor’s Version)
the delicate beginning rush the feeling you can know so much without knowing anything at all
this is falling in love in the cruelest way
'cause it’s not fair that you’re not around
Better Man (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault)
I know the bravest thing I ever did was run
Nothing New (Featuring Phoebe Bridgers) (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault)
I know someday I’m gonna meet her
it’s a fever dream, the kind of radiance you only have at seventeen
Message in a Bottle (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault)
'cause you could be the one that I love, I could be the one that you dream of, a message in a bottle is all I can do
standin’ here, hopin’ it gets to you, you could be the one that I keep, and I could be the reason you can’t sleep at night
Forever Winter (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault)
he says, “It’s not just a phase I’m in"
my voice comes out begging, all this time I didn’t know you were breaking down. I’d fall to pieces on the floor if you weren’t around
Too young to know it gets better
I’ll be summer sun for you forever, forever winter if you go
Run (Featuring Ed Sheeran) (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault)
and run, like you’d run from the law. darling, let’s run, run from it all. we can go where our eyes can take us, go where no one else is, run
and the note from the locket, you keep it in your pocket since I gave it to you. there’s a heart on your sleeve I’ll take it when I leave, and hold it for you
there’s been this hole in my heart, this thing was a shot in the dark, say you’ll never let 'em tear us apart and I’ll hold onto you while we run
The Very First Night (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault)
I drive down different roads but they all lead back to you
'cause they don’t know about the night in the hotel, they weren’t riding in the car when we both fell, didn’t read the note on the Polaroid picture, they don’t know how much I miss you
no one knows about the words that we whisper, no one knows how much I miss you
I’m the one on the phone as you whisper "do you know how much I miss you?”
All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault)
oh, your sweet disposition and my wide-eyed gaze, we’re singing in the car, getting lost upstate
and you were tossing me the car keys, “fuck the patriarchy” key chain on the ground, we were always skipping town
and there we are again when nobody had to know
you kept me like a secret, but I kept you like an oath, sacred prayer and we’d swear to remember it all too well
just between us, did the love affair maim you all too well?
Not Taylor making an Alice in wonderland reference on the tonight show 😂
I kind of feel she purposely tied it more to JG to kinda protect Emily? She has a very “normal” life and I think she’s scared for her to get harassed when people start connecting the dots to women from her past in a few years. ATW became such a huge thing through the years which she obviously didn’t expect at the beginning. and even though I want to think it’s the original version I feel more and more like she changed the lyrics to fit JG to protect Emily and their past. But I could be totally wrong. It’s only been a few hours and there’s still so much to unpack.
I had the same thought. I mean she used the scarf line as a visual to tie to someone (even if I wasn’t that specific scarf and happened with someone else she mimicked it), and that’s her brand especially back then — giving people something they can tangibly tie to someone. It kept people engaged with her music while maybe protecting someone else in the meantime. Tale as old as time. Doesn’t make the song any less special!
@taylorswift show us how you’ll be listening to the 10 minute version of “All Too Well”
Hum... am I seeing a story of the super straight, girlfriend-filled alpha male being planted in that famous IG gossip profile? Better is see the suggestion of the owner of the profile *I think this is a NY based couple. If this is the harbinger of the end, Jerk is emptying his pockets in this new farce. 💸💸💸💸💸 Lol
I have no idea what this is about???
Why are you convinced it’s about Abigail? There are so many references that leads back to Taylor and a certain 6’2 sunshine/ giraffe.
“Honey when I’m above the trees, I see this for what it is. But now I’m right down in it, all the years I’ve given” and “Please picture me in the trees, I hit my peak at seven feet. In the the seing over the creek, I was too scared to jump in”. First few lines of Happiness and Seven, seems like the end and start of the forest and trees that tie them together going full circle.
“Showed you all of my hiding spots, I was dancing when the music stopped” - seems like a reference to I Know Places and Dancing with our Hands Tied during Peak Kaylor
“From the dress I wore at midnight, leave it all behind” - seems like a reference to Dress and New Years Day (her midnights) which we think is for a certain 6’2 sunshine
“I can't make it go away by making you a villain. I guess it's the price I pay for seven years in heaven.” — seems to be a reference for her public ex-BFF hated by swifties who’s also a VS ANGEL
I’m sure there are many more references to the two but above are the glaring ones. I wish it was for Abigail too, given her timely breakup as well but there are TOO MANY KAYLOR references in Happiness. Us Kaylors, used to say her real story is in her songs regardless of what she strategically says to market her albums.
How are you objectively convinced it’s about Abigail despite all of these references? I am genuinely asking.
Because my recollection is that Taylor said it is about a breakup that one of her friends went through. And days after that we learned that Abigail was getting a divorce. It fits their relationship of seven years.
And, Taylor is still with Karlie so it doesn’t fit for her to write that about them.
*Sigh*... Taylor literally writes a gorgeous love song as the closer for her Lover album called Daylight, which is synonymous with sunshine, which is what she called Karlie in her 22nd birthday post for her, and in the song happiness Taylor mentions that across the great divide with the person who hurt her, there is a glorious sunrise... You know what shines after the sun rises? *Daylight*... In all probability, happiness is about Scott B's betrayal and Taylor's complicated feelings towards him as a former father figure and how her feelings towards him and his influence over her affected the choices she's made about her romantic relationship with her Sunshine. Writers don't use extended metaphors in multiple seperate pieces of their body of work like Taylor's thing with blue and gold, windows, and daylight/the sun for no reason, FFS 🙄
I haven’t seen a masterpost about all the women Taylor has dated/hooked up with, so I tried to compile one. Much of this is from kaylorevidence (see also kaylorevidence.com) who is a genius. ENORMOUS thanks also to the people who originally posted about this: @jennyboom21, @all-my-possessions, @tallcurlygirl, @karlitakloss, @taytaysbeard, @whaler13bg, @gaylorcastle, @karlieskupkake, larrienation aka @helplessgay, @svnshineswift (and everyone I’m forgetting! I’m sorry!). I’ve tried to credit every source but I’m sure I left some out so just let me know if so! In case links break, screenshots of almost everything are here.
Disclaimer: I’m sure this is riddled with errors! Repeat, I’m sure much of this is inaccurate (and furthermore it’s none of our business) but…curious minds 🤷. Some of the “sources” are laughable (The L Chat in particular) so take this with a grain or 10 of salt and do your own research too. I debated even posting this, but it seems like Tay is slowly coming out of the closet, so here we are…
According to @tallcurlygirl, these are the women Tay has dated/hooked up with:
Lacey [last name unknown] (2005)
Kelsey Morris (2005)
Emily Poe, fiddle player (aka Taymily) (2006-2007)
Claire Callaway, dancer (unknown when exactly. 2008 or 2009?)
Liz Huett, backup singer (unknown when exactly. 2008 or 2009?)
Kellie Pickler (unknown when exactly. 2009?)
Julianne Hough (late 2009-2010?)
Dianna Agron (aka Swiftgron) (2011-2013)
Karlie Kloss (aka Kaylor) (2013-present)

oh honey is gonna get those streams yaaaas!!
I wrote the Exile > MTR > Happiness anon and would like to elaborate/clarify what I meant as I was rushing when I sent the original anon. All my opinion of course (so no disrespect to anyone).
Taylor said the focus of folklore was the love triangle between Betty/James/Inez and that evermore was the sister album—both albums are telling that entire story. So because of this, I think you have to really listen between the lines.
I never said Karlie and Taylor have “seen each other out recently” nor am I saying that they broke up (they’ve shown VERY recently that they haven’t). I’m saying that these three songs are about someone she broke up with *before* she started dating Karlie. Exile is about finally leaving a toxic relationship. Why would Scott care if he saw her in a picture with her arms around someone else laughing? Why would he tell her it took her five whole minutes to be in someone else’s arms after they’d just had a fight (for example)?
MTR is the conversation after the breakup in Exile. “You had to kill me, but it killed you just the same—it had to end even though neither person wanted it to. It hurt her to leave and it hurt the other person to watch her leave.
“Hear my stolen lullabies” is a metaphor for hearing her voice, not her literal songs. Her voice haunting this person, even though she’s not there. Her screaming at the sky because the other person isn’t there so she has no one to talk to. They gather stones never knowing what they mean—some to throw (pick a fight), some to make a diamond ring. They don’t know if it’s gonna be love or war. Like in tolerate it when she says “I greet you with a battle hero’s welcome”. When someone comes home from war, you don’t know what version of that person you’re going to get. Also, what exactly would Scott be giving her a diamond ring for?
“I can go anywhere I want just not home”—she can go anywhere but home because she can’t be around or face the person she just left in Exile. Just like in Happiness, when she says “I pulled your body into mine very g—damn night, now I can’t fake niceties”—she can’t be “just friends” with this person after something like that (sleeping together). Champagne Problems—how evergreen our group of friends…don’t think we’ll say that word again .
She accepts the end of *that* relationship in “Happiness and chooses to be happy. There is happiness (with Karlie) AFTER that previous relationship and there’s also happiness BECAUSE of that person/relationship. Had she not left that situation (as much as she may not have wanted to..as that’s the price she paid) she wouldn’t be in the one she is now—7 years of heaven. How even across their “great divide” or breakup, there was a bright spot—a glorious sunrise (from St. Louis). Dappled in flickers of light from the dress she wore at midnight (she was buried in that dress in the LWYMMD video…which she wore to the 2014 Met Gala that she and Karlie attended). She left it all behind for happiness.
It’s time to go is knowing when to leave a generally toxic situation whether it’s a job, romantic or platonic relationship. When you’re at a job for 20 years and you don’t get the promotion, the boss’ son does. When you notice your partner look at another person a certain way, not as friends even though they say otherwise, you have that gut feeling…
…or when you expect something different from your partner and it’s the same thing over and over and you’re lost again with no surprises, only disappointments…
and finally, when you’ve been asking to own your work for years only to be shot down every single time and have them sold to someone else out of spite. <—this is why I said this was a Scott song because it references her old label drama.
You are welcome to believe this. But, also, see this article:
Taylor Swift says dispute with Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun felt like divorce
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the Grammy-winning pop behemoth confirmed that songs "My Tears Ricochet" and "Mad Woman" were inspired by her former Big Machine label boss Scott Borchetta and music industry bigwig Scooter Braun.
Juuuust wondering...
Did the similar exposed brick-front backdrops less than a day apart make anyone else chuckle?
Lol no just me. Okay cool lol

ive been thinking about the plotholes in the 2016 met gala narrative. Its absolutely crazy that no one seems to question the whole swiftvin-hiddleswift-toe timeline and we obviously know that none of the above relationships are real. but another strange thing i only just noticed is that why was joe alwyn, up and coming new actor with no lead roles or recognition was even doing at THE met gala…how did he even get an invite..i doubt he could pay $30,000 even if he got an invite from somewhere
Yes, this is a curious question that has been discussed previously. I believe he was there with an actor. But someone else can chime in with more details.
deuxmoi posted a blind about an a list singer expecting but not announcing anytime soon cause she’s all about hiding it rn. And the sender called themselves Big Ben, maybe alluding to London. Which makes me think it could be T, idk.. especially bc of the big ben thing.
Taylor is referred to as A+ list on other sites. I don’t follow that Instagram so I am not familiar with their usage.
if we take lover album and some songs there as a marriage confirmation, the baby next summer makes so much sense. and how tay tried to get it in our brains with having many child/family themes on folklore/evermore. nothing was a secret it was just well hidden.
Have you see the video of Karlie almost saying “ex?”
Yessss
Forgive me if this has already been discussed but... have we considered that the “facade” could be Jerklie’s relationship?
Rumors started (deliberately) swirling in the press in November 2012 that KK and JK were dating.
Us Weekly 11/8/12:
Daily Mail 11/27/12:
Four years later, KK implied she met JK in June 2012. So we are supposed to gather their “relationship” started sometime between June and November 2012.
Was Spade trying to tell us Jerklie’s contract ends in 2022? And that’s why Taylor dropped some random references to ‘22’? (There is some debate about how long a decade actually is but at least one definition fits with this timeline).
There’s this from an Entertainment Weekly video in the Lover era (5/9/19). Right before she does this she is talking about the palm trees she posted on IG when she finished Lover. She says “A palm try symbolizes rebirth, new beginnings, positive energy. So...” *precedes to sort of randomly/awkwardly throw two “peace” signs up before the video cuts to the next topic.
Taylor later referenced ‘22’ with freaking lavender icing in her hair (4/27/20).
Now I bet there have been a million pivots behind the scenes so even if this was what Spade was trying to convey, it may not mean anything now. And the implications of KK potentially signing on two a two year contract ending in the midst of a potential second Trump term are complicated.
All I really know is that Taylor will be releasing her version of Red on 11/19/21. And she made sure to remind us the album resembles a heartbroken person before referencing a friend who calls in the middle of the night to talk about their ex..

When you see them back to back like this...very compelling in my opinion 😂💕🌼
i just can’t get over it
Things that I find suspicious about Toe and I don't understand how the hets don't:
1) Why she didn't used his voice in the intro of London Boy? It would have been cute if they were real.
2) "I'm New York City, you're the West Village" Does Toe has an apartment there that we don't know about?
3) "Magnetic field being a little too strong" have they never seen and interview of this guy? He is not magnetic at all, he is plain and boring and even a little uptight.
4) He hasn't post anything about folklore, an album he supposedly wrote and produced, why?
im adding number 5
5) if toe lived with his parents until taylor and toe (supposedly) moved in together for the first time somewhere in the UK, who the f*ck was taylor living with on cornelia street?
Forgive me if this has already been discussed but... have we considered that the “facade” could be Jerklie’s relationship?
