애니먹방 5분모음 - Delicious Anime Food Compilation Part 18
Good morning, beautiful! Breakfast is ready~
Dong Po Pork Curry Don from Shokugeki no Souma. This is the first time I’ve cooked a meal for @onionchoppingninja; it was always her cooking for me. Dong Po pork normally doesn’t contain spices, but adding in the spices Nikumi mentioned gave it a fragrant and savoury taste. It was a tedious dish that took about 3 hours to make, but the results were worth it. The rice had a numbing taste that counteracted the oiliness of the meat. Onionchoppingninja said that the meat was juicy and syrupy, which was as the manga described.
Dong Po Pork (serves 3~4)
800g pork belly with skin and nice alternating layers of fat and lean meat
3 bunches of spring onions
2 thumbs size knob of ginger, thinly sliced
2 cups Shao Xing Hua Diao wine
0.5 cup light soy sauce
0.5 cup brown sugar
1 tbsp dark soy sauce
3 star anise
2 teaspoon of Sichuan peppercorns
2 tablespoons of cornstarch
Method:
Cut the pork belly to pieces of the desired size. Parboil until the surface turns white.
Cut off and shred the white end of the spring onions. This can be done by holding one end while scoring the other finely with the sharp tip of a knife, then switching the ends and repeating.
Line a huge pot with the green spring onions. Scatter the ginger slices over them. Place the pork belly skin side down on the spring onions. This is in order to render out the fat on the skin side.
Add in the soy sauce, brown sugar, star anise, Sichuan peppercorns. Pour in the Shao Xing wine.
Bring to a boil, then let the meat simmer for 2 hours, flipping once during the middle.
Remove the meat from the sauce and steam on high heat for 30 min. This step is extremely important in order to ensure the glossiness of the skin.
Mix cornstarch with a little water and add it the hot sauce while stirring.
To serve, pour the sauce over the meat.
Rice with Tengjiao Oil and Rock Salt
3 handfuls of Sichuan peppercorns (no idea what tengjiao is, and couldn’t find tengjiao oil in supermarkets, but this should be pretty close)
~100ml oil with no taste, like canola oil
2 cups rice
Pinch of salt
Method:
Cook the rice.
Infuse the oil with the Sichuan peppercorns. This is done by heating the oil in a pan with the peppercorns. Heat with stirring till the peppercorns pop. Remove from heat and leave aside.
When the rice is done, add the salt and oil and mix well (with the peppercorns filtered out).
To Assemble:
Blanch bok choy in boiling water.
Divide the rice into deep and wide bowls.
Arrange the pork belly skin up on the rice. This can be made easier by denting the rice slightly with a spoon so that the meat can sit snugly and not fall over. Place the blanched bok choy on the sides of the meat.
Pour the sauce over the meat and bok choy.
Top with the shredded spring onions.
Dig in!

Sorry for taking so long with this drawing, it was supposed to be done days ago, but it got pushed back due to distractions and my tooth ache, I also tried to make an incorrect quote of this but I ended up developing writer's block.
Anyways, this drawing is loosely inspired by a YT clip from "the Simpsons" where they discovered Ethiopian food.
Medea was on an outing with the Oingo Boingo brothers in Cairo when her car suddenly broke down(as DIO gave her a crappy car to use unless she pledged loyalty).
Even worse but Boingo was hungry and some of the nearby restaurants are closed, except for one Ethiopian joint that opened up in '84.
So they decided to check the place out while also calling for someone at DIO's mansion to pick them up. There they ordered a Yetsom Beyanetu, a vegetarian combination dish.
It was really delicious and it reminded Medea of how she used to do eat tortillas with Mexican food the same way back home(as California has Hispanic influences). Meanwhile Oingo is quite unsure about the dish while Boingo wants to have a sample.
Medea King belongs to me
ramen akaneko episode 03
I'm gonna start this in a weird way. Last night at 2300 i had the sudden urge to cook since I hadn't in two days. If you are following me or the anime communities I am in you will know that the birthday's of two important people in my life that I lost are back to back. I am pretty much useless to do anything those day sadly, but for some reason I got fidgety and well here are the results.😋
So I made Japanese Curry with pork belly and lots of veggies. St Louis Ribs Chinese style and roasted veggies of all kinds from Japanese eggplant to fennel to zucchini! Finally I had a plate with vegetable and egg furikake sprinkled on and white peach sparkling mash. It was delicious and worth the trouble! 🤤
Today I had the ribs for dinner along with the veggies too!😉
Wow! If anyone had not watched the first half of the series and came in here, it would seem like an amazing fantasy anime with some really good sakuga, interesting characters, and a pretty good plot! Oh and of course the best voice for a villain in the history of anime. Dio's seiyuu!😈
I'm not going to lie, I love this kind of mini arc. The whole betting trope where the stakes are high and usually a lively hood is on the line get me pretty excited! I mean we knew who was going to win of course, but that aside the last 10 min, were what really got me. Those methods of...well you know...man, I would not want to meet any of them in broad daylight in the middle of NYC cause I would still be gone from this life for sure! 🤯
Uh...this week and last week were sooo different! Last week was so light hearted with the Gayru group G4...well no G5 and Mori helping out tsundere to have a better life to that ending and this weeks ep of brothers and revenge and things just got way more serious even in the middle of the comedy moments.😲
Well we got to Jeju island and we met the ants and uh...between last week and this week...yeah, but Jinwoo's last words are all you have to understand to know what is going down for the last two ep of this season. Exchange.😎
I just went shopping on my way home from being a Home Chef for a friend of mine becasue I wanted to make Stuffed shells for dinner after I made her manicotti. Of course I ended up buying a whole lot more, but honestly I can't just run into the store and grab one item.😅
So I grab a cart and start in the fruit like most people do. Almost out of garlic so I grabbed a big jar cause it goes for a long time. Grabbed some Snap Dragon Apples and Raspberry oranges. Now those all sound boujie but all the apples were $3.99 a bag and my oranges were cheaper than navel ones!😲
So then I head to the areas where I am supposed to be going aka the pasta. I grab Italian bread to make garlic bread and found pie and bagels discounted so scooped those up. I even found a decent size pork roast on discount for tomorrow's dinner! Then I hit the pasta aisle.😄
I found sauce for a crazy sale price and stood in the pasta aisle for like 15 minutes comparing sale prices. I tried to make it down the cookie aisle safely, but I ended up seeing store brand butter cookies so snatch.😆
Next came eggs but I was not worried cause i cased them earlier in the week I knew that I could get 24 for $8.25 which is a steal nowadays. Got a big bag of meatballs that will last a while too. Finally I hit the dairy and to my lovely shock I found butter on sale! Let me tell you even on the holidays I could not find butter on sale like this! I will be going back later this week to grab more cause butter is so expensive right now!😖
Finally grabbed all the cheeses I needed for the shells and found cream cheese on a fantastic sale. Grabbed my daughter's Greek yogurt and then on my way to the register I remembered a vid I watched about olive oil being scarce in the coming months so I decided to check that out and after another 15 min of price comparing I chose one and that was the most expensive thing I bought at $14.99 but it will last me months.🧐
When all is said and done I spent $141.35 and it filled four bags, which is not many, but everything I bought except for the cookies was all healthy and unprocessed or will last months. I think I did damn good! Then I spent $2.89 on a bottle of blackberry Dr. Pepper and made mac and cheese cause it was too late to cook the shells cause I took two hours to shop.😂
No for serious, right now as i am writing this I am roasting the veggies in my fridge so they don't go bad and I can freeze them. I really am trying not to let anything go bad in my fridge anymore cause that was a bad habit we had and it wastes soooo much money. So yeah, I think I did really good and the two most expensive things i bought were the garlic and the olive oil. The pantry is full and we will be too for a few months!🥰
Mata ne Mina!🤗
