It’s weird being a maximalist because of trama, because like yeah my cool lighting and completely covered walls look neat, but like I am a 22 year old man with a fear of the dark and I can’t sleep in a room with bare walls because the echo is daunting and takes me back to a time I don’t want to remember.
Like nothing will make me crash out faster than my only sleeping arrangements being a completely dark plain room, I won’t sleep.
Some of my favorites of the night …. I love black women

the storm is coming.
sorry i've been forgetting to post on here. my brain has been pretty scattered lol.
I dont understand why millionaires decide to make all of their homes the most boring, white, boxy homes possible when they literally have the money to build the coolest shit ever. Why would you build a modern mansion when you could build a fucking minature castle with cool twists and turns and arched doorways and little nooks and crannies to fill with the cool weird things you find and bring back from the countries you visit.
^^ this! and additionally, criticizing an author for using language that is not "simplistic" enough for every reader to immediately understand no matter their field restricts the topics that people will write about too, right? like, no one's gonna write, say, a botanist character if all of the specialized vocabulary that comes with being a botanist has to be explained. that's a whole lot of exposition that most editors would call unnecessary. the writing will be clunky and immersion will be broken with asides explaining what everything is instead of just allowing the reader to be in the world and ~experience and explore~ like they're supposed to.
This might be unpopular but I’m not going to use simpler vocabulary in my writing if it’s out of character for the narrator. If my POV character is a botanist, he’s going to call a plant by its name. If you don’t know what it is you can either Google it or move on just knowing it’s a plant of some sort.
I don’t like this trend of readers being angry that not everything is 100% understandable for them. I want my characters to be believable as people and sometimes people use words people outside of their field will not understand. That’s not a bad thing.
You don’t have to understand every word to get the gist of what’s happening. I’m not going to slow down an action scene to describe every weapon because someone might not know them by name. They can just assume it’s a weapon because that makes sense in the context of the scene.
My favorite movie forever
