Dive Deep into Creativity: Your Ultimate Tumblr Experience Awaits
I thought tumblr would be a more artist oriented platform than instagram but it’s even worse I keep getting the same bots begging for money and the same commission scams it’s so annoying on instagram that happened maybe once but here it keeps going every single time I post something
One problem I have with this platform is that I got messaged by 5 people already 2 of them were the „I will pay you 200 $ for you to draw my kids dog with its name scam” and 3 of them were asking for money I could maybe understand if even followed them but no these were random people who went to my blog only to beg I’m open to any messages or questions unless they’re disrespectful or something but please if you want to ask me those things don’t waste your time as I will not be replying.
Stay Safe!
So I've been get a lot of requests for money in my askbox lately, from users I have never seen before! Usually sad cats, sometimes gender affirming medical bills, a queer person being made homeless etc etc... and guess what? None of them are real! It's scammers who have learned how to work tumblr's userbase and prey on our general sense of community and charity.
Here it is, so sad! So tragic! But let's note a few things:
It's generic. They don't know me, I don't know them. it's addressed to 'friend', no use of nicknames or usernames.
Even the cat and the problem are generic 'little kitty' who has 'urgent needs'. This is not how real people talk, this is because this scam is being used over and over with different accounts a different 'cats'.
Praying (uh huh.)
Asking you to reply privately- This is so people don't spot the scam and point it out the mark and because if too many people posted replies to the same message it would beome really obvious that this is a scam. If they're looking for 'boosts' so badly, then why do they need you to reply privately?
Now that I'm suspicious, let's investigate.
Sent me an ask and then followed me! Sounds like they're just hitting up anyone and everyone, but even more likely they have a list they're working from.
(I get so many, I'm probably on a mail-out list a mile long, just being hit up for cash. Likely I fell for one of these once and got my name added to every scam list for miles, but oh well.)
So let's see if they're a bot or a real person!
The blog looks genuine enough, they've got a bio, a fandom etc. And it says they're an artist!
And of course there's that sad cat post, pinned right to the top, so I don't have to look any further through the blog for verification... Looks super legit, pics of the cat, pics of the bill... of course anyone can print out a bill and take a picture of it...
As I do scroll futher, it's full of reblogs making this look like an active user. So how can I tell it's not genuine?
Well, if they're an artist they probably post right? Doodles? Pictures? Let's have a look at their origional posts.
The fastest way to do this is by using an outside tool like Original Post Finder.
just type in the suspicious username and go...
Voila! As suspected, the only post this bot account has ever made is Sad Cat Post.
Confirmed: Scam. Do not give your money to these guys, it looks so real but they're just here to make you feel like a bad person for not handing over everything you can. Charity is wonderful, supporting friends is wonderful, but tbh save it for people you actually know irl/ mutuals you have an actual relationship with. Don't believe any rando who comes knocking!
Love and kisses, stay safe out there.
SORRY THESE MIGHT BE SLIGHTLY OUT OF ORDER I just want to share this in case anyone gets something similar happening to them on discord (even not by me but someone else they know)
Apparently these scammers go through ALL lengths to make themselves look as legit as possible, they hack anyone in your friends list and basically claim to have false reported you. If you fall through and believe them they'll send you over to someone who claims to be one of discords employees and will BASICALLY in the end swindle you for money and to change your email and passwords on your account so they can hack into it. I AM SHARING because I want you all to be safe, cuz to the untrained eye you may not be able to tell right away these fuckers are scammers so, I just hope this helps, anyone that comes across this and- yeah. Stay safe out there guys. Love you all
Just wanna write this quick thing cuz its fucking 1: 30AM and i am SO TIRED from having to deal with random scammers and hackers all day pretty much but if anyone of you gets a message by "instaquarius" on discord THAT IS NO LONGER ME. THAT IS SOMEONE IMPERSONATING AS ME. PLEASE DON'T FALL FOR IT I AM BEGGING. JUST BLOCK AND MOVE ON. PLEASE DON'T FALL FOR IT. IT IS NO LONGER ME. SHORTLY AFTER THIS SHIT HAPPENED I TRIED TO DELETE MY DISCORD ACCOUNT BUT I DONT KNOW IF IT WORKED BUT HJSSBHBSHJDBJ ----------- TLDR:
A friend told me they falsely reported me cuz they got in contact with someone impersonating as me.
they gave me contact to a discord IT employee or whatever and go along, do whatever the IT says.
an hour or so later (cuz i couldn't figure out how to turn off 2FA cuz i was understandably panicking and what not and basically having a mental break down thinking i was about to be perma banned or some shit for something i didn't do)
dude asks for money and mickey ( @TheOnePhun211 ) my fiance and our friend @PilarFlorimonte was able to basicalyl realize the whole thign was a scam.
they changed my email and passwords and shit and i only just BARELY managed to delete both my alt acct and main one before they could do anything else.
deleted my massive(? ish server i had all my friends in and like- yeah. ------------- SO BASICALLY IF YOU GUYS ARE STILL BEING CONTACTED BY EITHER instaquarius ON DISCORD OR instaquariusvoice2.0 (or whatever I called that alt idk i only used that one for VC tbh) DONT EVEN MESSAGE THEM BACK JUST IGNORE. My new discord is TheRealestInstaQuarius211 (or just TheRealestInstaQuarius) and you should find me. AGAIN. for all your safety cuz I dont want anyone else being hacked. if you get a random message from instaquarius or any of my old accts saying: "they accidentally reported my account" or whatever. Just block and move on. Thank you and stay safe everyone, have a good night.
Ah yes, because this is totally respecting me
Let me make this perfectly clear, I am a taken woman, engaged to the love of my life, and you sir can go fuck yourself.
I get you're probably some bot, and I'm just speaking into the void, but I'm still pissed, so let's do this!
You literally just followed me, so for all I know you just now found out I exist. You don't know what I look like irl, because even if you were to comb through my entire tumblr, I know for a fact I've never posted a picture of my face. You don't if I'm a minor, you don't know my gender, my sexuality, nothing.
You assumed all of it, you assumed I wasn't in a relationship, or worse you did, and you thought I valued it so little, and you assumed I would be okay with this kind of shit.
Well, your assumption was far off into fucking orbit man. Good day.
This is just horrible
It's playing with the emotions of people like me who put a lot of hard work into what they do and want to share it with as many people as possible
And on Christmas day no less
God I'm actually super depressed by this
Thanks scammers
Also they spelled Tumblr wrong...
ALERT: THIS IS A NEW SCAM. IF YOU SEE ANYTHING LIKE THIS SENT TO YOU FROM SOME RANDOM ACCOUNT WITHOUT WARNING, DO NOT FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS. I HAVEN’T SEEN THIS ONE YET, SO PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!! DON’T!!! FALL FOR THIS!!!
This is worse, in its way, than the pornbots.
Here's something that turned up in my ask box just now.
...So. You've all seen these. Some of them are genuine. Lots aren't.
Here's where their message leads:
...Okay. The first warning sign: this account is about 3 days old.
But the second: searching on the details of the plea for help via Google, what do we find but...
...Poor Macaroni has repeatedly been hit by cars, and has repeatedly suffered busted femurs, since 2015.
"This," as the saying goes, "starts to look like carelessness." :/
Taking advantage of the kindness of strangers this way is vile... and plainly there's no shortage of people willing to indulge.
So: yeah, I'll be delighted to help the OP get some more traction on this! You betcha. By:
Blocking. Reporting. Reporting to PayPal as well. And dropping @staff a note, when I have a moment. Because allowing this stuff to prosper here just invites more people to try it on. :/
...Pass the news around, friends. ("And call it Macaroni.")
